It’s been a changeable week so far, we did get the promised new snow over the weekend, around 31cm which made for a great powder weekend, although we didn’t see much of the sun. The weather this week is changing though. Tuesday is the coldest day of the week with the lowest freezing level at around 500m and around 3cm of snow. Wednesday may bring a light dusting of new snow too.
Wednesday is cloudy with maybe a light dusting of new snow. From Thursday this week we’ve got some calm and sunny days coming up even though it will remaining pretty cold, with temperatures not getting above -2. If it's bluebird days you are looking for, it looks like you'll be in luck on Friday and Saturday! No snow is currently forecast until Monday next week when we are predicted to get a light snowfall. After that it’s too far out to predict accurately. The snow depths over around 1800m are above average for this time of the season and recent snowfall has really freshened up the snow giving excellent off-piste conditions.
The avalanche rating is currently around 3 out of 5. Be aware on north facing slopes over 2000m as you may find some instability due to a buried weaker layer beneath the new snow. As always don’t venture off-piste without the correct kit or before checking the daily weather advisory in the resort.
