Snow Report, 17 December 2025

By Nye Erskine, Updated

Les Deux Alpes is firmly in winter mode now. The glacier has been busy for weeks already and the rest of the mountain is starting to look more settled as colder temperatures return. From the village you can see good coverage building higher up and there is a familiar early-season rhythm around resort, with more lifts opening and skiers spreading out beyond the very top sections.

Snow and Weather Summary

Current reports show a strong snow base at altitude, with snow depths sitting at around 180 cm on the glacier and upper slopes, while lower down in resort levels coverage is closer to 30 cm. Recent snowfall earlier in the month helped establish a solid base, and although the last few days have been mostly dry, cold overnight temperatures have kept the snow in good condition. Forecasts for the coming days suggest mostly settled weather with the chance of light snowfall later in the week, potentially adding a few centimetres above mid-mountain. Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing overnight at altitude, with daytime temperatures hovering just above zero lower down. On the slopes this means firm pistes in the mornings, softer snow developing through the day, and clearly better coverage and snow quality higher up compared to the village runs.

Outlook & What’s On

The outlook for the next week remains fairly stable, which should help the snowpack consolidate rather than deteriorate. With Christmas approaching, the resort is moving into its festive period, with seasonal events and entertainment beginning to appear in the village and on the mountain. The glacier and high-altitude lifts continue to offer the most reliable skiing, while more terrain should gradually become available if forecast snowfall arrives and temperatures stay cold enough to support snowmaking.

Snow Takeaway

Les Deux Alpes is offering dependable early-season skiing at altitude, with a deep base on the glacier and good conditions on upper pistes. Lower slopes are improving but remain more variable, so the best experience over the next few days will come from sticking to higher terrain and prepared runs.
