Les Deux Alpes has a crisp, high mountain feel this week with clear air in the village and the glacier dominating the skyline. The resort feels firmly settled into winter now, with reliable access to altitude and a steady rhythm on the slopes. Conditions feel predictable rather than changeable, and there is a strong sense that the season is ticking along nicely even without any dramatic weather events.
Snow and Weather Summary
Snow depths in Les Deux Alpes remain strongest at altitude, with around 60 to 90cm reported at resort level and approximately 180 to 220cm on the upper slopes and glacier. There has been only light snowfall recently, mainly refreshing higher terrain, while lower areas have seen little change. Temperatures have stayed cold for early January, with freezing levels generally below 1200m and daytime temperatures in the village sitting just below zero. Winds have been light to moderate, occasionally noticeable on the glacier but rarely disruptive. Skiing conditions are best higher up where the snow remains cold, compact and consistent. Lower runs are firm first thing, softening slightly on sunnier afternoons but remaining well managed and skiable.
