Les Deux Alpes is in a strong mid season position, with the glacier dominating the skyline and plenty of snow visible right down to resort level. The mountains look well filled in, and there is a settled winter feel across the area rather than anything marginal or fragile. Conditions on the hill feel dependable, and the season is shaping up as a good one for consistent skiing rather than chasing short lived snowfalls.
Snow and Weather Summary
Current snow depths sit at around 220 to 250cm on the upper mountain and glacier, with approximately 90 to 120cm at resort level. There has been a light top up of around 5cm over the past few days above 2000m, which has helped refresh the surface without changing the overall base. Temperatures have stayed cold, ranging from around -10 degrees Celsius on the glacier to -2 or -3 degrees in the village during the day. The freezing level has generally remained below 1200m, which is ideal for snow preservation across all elevations. Winds have been mostly light, though occasionally moderate on the glacier, and visibility has been good for most of the week. Higher terrain is skiing very well with firm packed snow and some chalky sections, while lower runs are firmer in the morning and soften slightly by early afternoon, particularly on south facing slopes.
