Les Deux Alpes continues to benefit from its high altitude terrain, with the glacier and upper slopes looking particularly solid as we head into the final week of February. The village is busy with the holiday period in full flow, yet once you head up above 2400 metres the mountain opens out and still feels expansive. The season feels well established here, with a dependable base and consistent coverage across most of the domain.
Snow and Weather Summary
Current snow depths are around 80 to 100 cm at resort level at 1650 metres, with between 190 and 260 cm reported on the upper slopes and glacier area above 3000 metres. A light refresh of around 5 cm has fallen at higher elevations over the past few days, helping to brighten surfaces and improve grip on exposed runs. The deeper base built earlier in the month remains in place across the mountain.
Temperatures have been suitably cold at altitude, ranging from minus 10 to minus 6 degrees on the glacier and upper pistes, while the resort has seen daytime highs between minus 1 and plus 3 degrees. The freezing level has generally hovered between 1500 and 1800 metres, dropping overnight and allowing good refreezing on prepared slopes. Winds have been light to moderate, occasionally more noticeable on the glacier but without major disruption.
On piste, the best conditions are found above 2400 metres where snow remains firm, chalky and consistent throughout much of the day. The glacier sector is skiing particularly well, with strong coverage and reliable grip. Mid mountain slopes are in good shape in the mornings after grooming, softening slightly on sunnier aspects by afternoon. Lower runs back to resort are well maintained and skiable, though they are best enjoyed earlier in the day during milder spells.
