Winter is settling in nicely across Les Deux Alpes and the resort is looking well on track for a strong start to the season. Recent snowfall has freshened the slopes and the upper mountain is holding onto an impressive early base. With more cold weather in the forecast, things continue to move in the right direction for anyone planning a December ski trip.
Snow and Weather Summary
Forecasts for the next few days show a steady pattern of cold temperatures across the mountain with a light top up of snow expected at intervals. Mid mountain areas may see around 2 centimetres of fresh snow through Friday and Saturday which should help to brighten the pistes. Longer range models point to the possibility of a more meaningful snowfall next week and some projections suggest totals of up to 15 to 20 centimetres at higher elevations if conditions align.
The glacier and upper slopes remain the strongest part of the mountain at the moment and the natural cold at altitude is helping preserve the base. Early season snowmaking has also been active whenever temperatures allow which means groomers have plenty to work with.
Lower slopes are more variable and still depend on continued snowmaking and natural top ups but overall the mountain is shaping up better than average for early December.
