Sightseeing on Les 2 Alpes glacier

With or without skis, the Les Deux Alpes glacier offers an unforgettable experience that is not to be missed. The view from 3400m is stupendous, the new Skywalk is heart stopping, and the Ice Caves take you right into the heart of the glacier.

The Mountain of Hell MTB race is now in its 17th year and the 2016 edition saw 700 mountain bikers take part from no less than 18 different countries. For the first time this year there was a children's race with 23 competitors taking part, and 16 women also joined the ranks - I was one of them.

Ski Tour of the Vallee Blanche sector

Do something a little different and ride the Vallée Blanche sector on the other side of Les 2 Alpes. Lot’s of people never ski this area which usually means it’s nice and quiet over there.

2 Alpes Interseason Review

The wall to wall sunshine continues here in the Oisans, which is very welcome after a week's UK holiday in what appeared to be a howling north wind (and probably wasn't, but it definitely felt like being forcibly fast forwarded by about a month and a half). To be fair it only chucked rain for one day out of seven, and we did see a reasonable amount of sun as well, but not the warm cuddly sort you get here - more a kind of SunShine-Lite diet version with the best bits taken out and replaced with some sort of chemical imitation.

Parapenting in Les 2 Alpes

If you've got a head for heights and want to enjoy views of Les 2 Alpes that you don't normally get, then taking a flight on a tandem parapente should be on your 'must do' list whilst you're here - either in summer or winter.

Les Deux Alpes Summer Park

2 Alpes Summer Skiing Review

The summer ski season starts this weekend with the opening of the Les Deux Alpes glacier ski area, a week ahead of Tignes. The snow conditions on the glacier are some of the best we've seen thanks to a particularly snow heavy winter season - this webcam view shows a very snowy glacier park at 2300m. Les Deux Alpes have developed one of Europe's best summer snow parks which attracts park rats from June through to September. The park features two half-pipes, one of which meets the Olympic halfpipe specifications.

Les 2 Alpes Mountain Biking Review

Since the Mondial VTT was on this weekend, there proved to be lots of mountain biking and exploring to be had, so I made my way over from Chamonix for a few days to check out what was on offer.

Col d'Ornon Ride Review

If you’re after a shorter less committing bike ride than the infamous 21 bends up to Alpe D’Huez, the Col D’Ornon is a great option from the same starting point. The ride is easily done in less than two hours and there are certainly no compromises on the scenery!

Hotdog Rafting in Les 2 Alpes

On a blisteringly hot day, or even when it's raining, heading down the river in the Veneon Valley below Les 2 Alpes is a great way to spend a few hours, or most of the day depending on your plans.

Camping in Les 2 Alpes Review

So the sun is out, temperatures are soaring and high season is just around the corner, which means it must be time to go camping. It’s cheap, it’s outdoors and you can do it almost anywhere, what’s not to like? All right, it happens to be chucking with rain on this particular morning, but it’s not going to do that all holiday is it?

2 Alpes Summer Skiing 2012 Review

Summer appears finally to have got a grip on itself and remembered what it’s supposed to be doing, so what better way to celebrate than with a spot of wintersports activity. Err ………..
