Summer skiing, family activities & a cycling event comes to town
August in Les Deux Alpes has it all, with events to suit all ages and abilities. From family festivals, to adrenaline fuelled summer skiing, take a look at some of the best the month has to offer.
Summer is heating up in the resort, and so is the calendar of events for the area. With too many to mention, here is a quick rundown of some of the best event you can expect.
Summer Skiing
August is the last month for summer skiing in Les 2 Alpes, with the lifts shutting on the 26th. The ski lifts are open every day, weather permitting, from 07:00 to 12:30, taking you up to the lofty heights of the glacier snowpark and pistes, at 3600m. There are 17 lifts running in summer; two chair lifts, eight drag lifts, two gondolas, a cable car, two drag lifts the funicular and elevator. These lifts access one red piste, nine blue pistes, one green piste and the summer snowpark.
Pottery Market, August 2nd
From 10:00 to 19:00 on August 2nd, potters from all around the region of Isère and beyond will gather to show and sell their creations. There will also be pottery demonstrations, and visitors can even get their hands dirty and try themselves.
Family Activities, August 6th - 10th
The programme caters for all ages, including sports events, nature hikes, stories, photography, and lots of games to participate with the whole family. Events usually take place between 10:00 and 22:30 and run from August 6th to 10th. Check the website closer to the date for a full programme.
Haute Route, August 28th & 29th
Seven days of timed races, an overall ranking, 800km, and 20 legendary mountain passes across the most popular cycling playgrounds in the world, Les 2 Alpes will be hosting a stage on August 28th and 29th. This is the eighth edition of the Haute Route Alps, the classic multi-day cyclosportive from Nice to Geneva featuring 20,000m of climbing.
