February was dominated by the Alpine Skiing World Championships, held every second year, which kicked off in St Moritz on 6th February. Over 13 days, 589 athletes from 76 countries competed in eleven competitions in front of 165,000 spectators.
Les Deux Alpes’ unusual trail running challenge returned for its sixth and perhaps its toughest instalment this weekend. Heavy snow, high winds and avalanche risk meant that courses had to be altered. Some competitors had a shorter run and others a longer one but all had a difficult time trying to race through deep snow.

Back for the seventh year running, Les Deux Alpes’ Night Snow Trail continues to attract a growing number of trail runners each winter. In 2018, over 500 runners took part in the three courses.
The Japanese three man team freestyle festival returned to Les Deux Alpes in 2010 for it's biggest year. The Les Deux Alpes Défi Vertical, or Vertical Challenge is a new event this year for those who like to ski uphill.
Saturday saw the first edition of the Les Deux Alpes Defí Vertical – a ski touring race from the town at 1650 metres to the top of the glacier at 3600 metres.
