Road closures in Les 2 Alpes and La Grave
Maintenance on RD1091 will mean temporary road closures
Tardy tourists in the Oisans face road closures around Les 2 Alpes and La Grave during the interseason period as work starts on the main RD1091 road between Bourg d'Oisans and Briançon. Work to protect the road from rock falls and repairs to the Tunnel des Ardoisières at Villar d'Arene will be ongoing throughout September and October.
The road will be closed at the Ardoisières tunnel every week night between 22:00 and 06:00 from the end of August until October 28, but open without restriction on the weekends between 06:00 on Saturday and 22:00 each Monday. Drivers looking to get from Grenoble to Briançon are advised to take the D95 via Laffrey and Gap.
Work to prevent rock falls will affect the stretch from the junction with Les 2 Alpes to the tunnel about 400m further along the road towards La Grave. Drivers should expect this section to be closed from September 12 to October 14 for half an hour in every hour between 09:00 and 11:30 then 14:00 and 16:30, from Monday to Friday, making access to La Grave, the Col du Lautaret and the Ferrand valley difficult.
Access to Les 2 Alpes will still be possible via either the main road from the Lac du Chambon or the D220, known locally as Les Travers.
